The Two Witnesses
The two witnesses of Revelation 11 are actual people — not symbols, not institutions — who carry the delegated authority of the Spirit of God during the period when the Spirit has withdrawn to the prepared place. Their 1,260-day testimony begins on 11th October 2026 at the Feast of Trumpets — ten days before the Day of Atonement when the door formally closes. They are already operating and commissioned during the 10 Days of Awe before the tribulation formally opens. They are the supply line through which the 144,000 operate.
What the Text Says
> Revelation 11:3-4 — And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.
>
> Zechariah 4:6 — This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.
The two olive trees of Zechariah 4 supply the oil — the Spirit — to the lampstand. The lampstand carries the light. The two witnesses supply the Spirit to the 144,000 who carry the testimony. The oil is the Spirit. Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit. The witnesses are the conduit of the Spirit ‘s authority and supply during the 1260 days.
Their Authority and Power
> Revelation 11:5-6 — And if anyone would harm them, fire pours from their mouth and consumes their foes. If anyone would harm them, this is how he is to be killed. They have the power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire.
The authority of Elijah — shutting heaven. The authority of Moses — turning waters to blood and striking with plagues. These are not metaphors. The same God who closed the sky for Elijah ‘s three and a half years and opened the Red Sea and brought plagues on Egypt is the same God authorising the two witnesses for the same period (three and a half years = 1260 days) with the same categories of authority. John the Baptist carried the spirit of Elijah but did no miracle (John 10:41). The two witnesses carry the spirit of Elijah and exercise it fully.
Their Relationship to the 144,000
The two witnesses delegate their authority to the 144,000 in the same way Jesus delegated to the twelve. The 144,000 are the lampstand carrying the oil supplied by the olive trees. The witnesses are the source. The 144,000 are the carriers. The testimony that reaches every nation, kindred, tongue, and people during the tribulation period comes from the 144,000 operating under the delegated authority of the two witnesses, who operate under the authority of the Spirit of God.
Their Death and Resurrection
> Revelation 11:7-12 — And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit will make war on them and conquer them and kill them\… But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet\… Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, ‘Come up here! ‘ And they went up to heaven in a cloud.
The beast from the earth — the false prophet, Satan appearing as Christ — kills the two witnesses at the conclusion of their 1260-day testimony. The people who have taken the mark rejoice and celebrate. After three and a half days the Spirit of life enters them, they stand, and a voice calls them up. Their ascension is public. A great earthquake follows. Seven thousand killed. The mercy window is now closed. The vials begin.
